As the title suggests, Big Food Bucket List is a show that takes you on a culinary journey across the world in search of the most tempting and unique dishes each country has to offer. In season 3, episode 6 titled C'est La Vie Che, host John Catucci jets off to the city of Montreal in Canada in search of the best French cuisine the city has to offer.

The episode begins with a visit to a classic French patisserie known as Au Kougn-Amann. Here, John gets to sample some delicious and delicate pastries, including the Kouign-Amann, a buttery pastry with a caramelized sugar coating, which originates from Brittany, France.

Next up in John's French culinary adventure is the famous Le Club Chasse et Peche. This is a high-end restaurant that is well-known for its modern take on classic French cuisine. John meets with the owner/head chef, Claude Pelletier, who shares the inspiration behind some of Le Club Chasse et Peche's most popular dishes. Some of the highlights include the roasted venison loin with black garlic, squash puree, and truffle sauce, and the octopus carpaccio with pickled fennel and black garlic aioli.

John also gets a chance to try out a French-Canadian classic, the tourtiere, at the historic Marche Jean-Talon. A tourtiere is a traditional meat pie that has been a staple of Quebecois cuisine for centuries. At La Binerie Mont-Royal, John tries out this dish and learns about the history behind it.

Continuing with the theme of traditional dishes, John heads over to La Queue de Cheval, where he gets to try out galantine de canard, which is a French-style pate made with duck meat. He then visits Le Butterblume, a trendy brunch spot that offers a variety of French-inspired dishes, including escargots (snails) served with bone marrow toast.

To cap off his culinary journey in Montreal, John stops by the famous St-Viateur Bagel in the Mile-End neighborhood to try out their famous bagels. The bagels at St-Viateur are hand-rolled and boiled in honey water before being baked in wood-fired ovens. John gets to sample both the classic sesame seed bagel and St-Viateur's signature "all dressed" bagel.

C'est La Vie Che is a must-see episode for anyone who loves French cuisine or is looking to explore the culinary scene in Montreal. John Catucci takes viewers on a gastronomical tour that is both enlightening and inspiring, showcasing not just the traditional French dishes, but how they have been reinvented and elevated to new levels by innovative chefs. Additionally, John's outgoing and infectious personality makes for a fun and enjoyable viewing experience, whether you are a foodie or not.
