Ep 23. Dream Home

As the season four finale of Black-ish, "Dream Home" finds the Johnson family looking for a new house after Dre is promoted to senior vice president of Stevens & Lido. With the company giving him a large bonus, Dre is motivated to find his family's dream home and move out of their current place in the Valley.

Bow quickly becomes stressed out about the prospect of moving and leaving behind their old house and neighborhood. Meanwhile, Zoey is moving to college soon and the thought of her leaving is also weighing heavily on Bow.

In the search for their dream home, Dre and Bow enlist the help of a real estate agent played by guest star Tyra Banks. While she helps them find some great houses, Dre becomes fixated on a sprawling mansion that is well beyond their means. He soon begins to feel that the house is a status symbol, something that will show he's made it to the top.

Bow is hesitant about the mansion, feeling like it's not a fit for their family. Despite this, Dre continues to obsess over it and tries to find ways to finance the house even if it means sacrifices in other aspects of their lives.

Junior is worried about leaving the neighborhood he has grown up in, and Jack is upset that they may lose their house and all of his childhood memories along with it. Diane, however, couldn't be happier about the move and the prospect of a new, bigger room.

As the family weighs their options, they are forced to confront what truly matters in their lives. Dre realizes that the mansion is just a symbol of his own personal success, and that bigger doesn't always mean better. He ultimately decides to purchase a more modest home that is a better fit for his family's needs.

While "Dream Home" tackles some serious issues relating to moving and finding the perfect house, the episode is still full of humor and heart like the rest of the series.
