Ep 19. The Slaughterhouse

The Slaughterhouse is the nineteenth episode of the fourth season of the American police procedural comedy television series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The show revolves around the detectives of the 99th precinct of the New York City Police Department located in Brooklyn. The Slaughterhouse is directed by Jay Karas and written by Laura McCreary.

In this episode, as the Nine-Nine gets ready for their weekly police fitness test, they learn that they are going to face off against other precincts in the city, leading to a competitive atmosphere within the precinct. At the same time, Holt is distracted from his work by an email that threatens his colleagues and family with death if he doesn't hand over some files. Despite the warning in the message to keep it a secret, Holt confides in Terry, who then tells Jake, Rosa and Charles.

With Terry leading the investigation into the email, Jake finds a lead that takes them to a shady slaughterhouse in the outskirts of the city, where they suspect the files are. In order to get inside, they need to pose as meat inspectors and face a tough, suspicious butcher who runs the slaughterhouse. While Holt tries to keep himself calm and collected at the precinct, the team's infiltration into the slaughterhouse takes a turn for the worse when they confront the slaughterhouse owner and the workers, leading to a tense, action-packed finale.

During the episode, the detectives also get to display their respective personality traits and quirks, from Charles's obsession with meat to Terry's love for yogurt. Gina, who is on maternity leave, makes an appearance through a hilarious video message, where she and her baby comment on the precinct's fitness test shenanigans.
