In Castle Rock season 1 episode 2, titled "Habeas Corpus," the storyline picks up where the previous episode left off. Henry Deaver, played by André Holland, returns to his hometown of Castle Rock to unravel the mystery of his father's death. In this episode, Henry visits the Shawshank Penitentiary, a maximum-security prison in Castle Rock, where a new prisoner has been admitted without any paperwork or legal documents. The prisoner is found in one of the prison's cells, locked up and alone, with no one knowing anything about him, not even his name.

Meanwhile, in the town of Castle Rock, the arrival of the new prisoner causes a stir, and everyone is curious about who he could be and why he's in the prison. The prison's warden, Dale Lacy, played by Terry O'Quinn, is the only person who seems to know anything about the prisoner. He refers to him as "The Kid" and tells Henry that he found him somewhere in the nearby forest.

As Henry begins to investigate the mystery of "The Kid," he discovers that there is more to the story than meets the eye. He starts to have flashbacks from his past, including the day he disappeared from Castle Rock as a child. He also finds himself drawn to the case of the new prisoner and begins to suspect that there may be a connection between the two.

At the same time, viewers get a glimpse into the life of Molly Strand, played by Melanie Lynskey, a local real-estate agent who has a psychic ability. She is struggling to deal with her gift, which allows her to read people's thoughts and emotions. Molly is particularly conflicted because she has feelings for Henry, who she has known since they were children.

As the episode progresses, the tension in Castle Rock begins to mount, and the episode builds up to a climactic ending that leaves viewers excited for the next installment. The show's cinematography and overall ambience are appropriate for the show's genre, creating a spooky, eerie vibe that reflects the tone of the Stephen King novels that inspired the series.

Overall, "Habeas Corpus" is an enthralling addition to Castle Rock's first season, building on the previous episode's plot while introducing new characters and mysteries. It sets the tone for the rest of the series while leaving enough gaps in the storyline to keep viewers eager to uncover the truth behind Castle Rock's many secrets.
