Watch Comedytime Saturday

  • 1969

Was there a better time to be a cartoon loving child than 1969? "Comedytime" actually debuted in 1968 and proved to be such a ratings hit with younger viewers that CBS rewarded them with an expanded block of cartoon shows in 1969, overseen by future legendary television producer Fred Silverman.

"Archie", based on the hit comic book of the same name, had proved to be equally popular as a television program, and was back as part of the lineup. New to Comedytime was "Hot Wheels" (based on the popular toy cars), "Penelope Pitstop" and a not horribly bright talking dog named Scooby-Doo.
