Detective Mac Taylor and his team investigate the murder of a woman found strangled in her home. As they begin to gather evidence, they discover that the victim's daughter may have witnessed the murder. The daughter, who has a history of mental illness, claims to have seen the killer but cannot recall any details or provide any useful information.

As the investigation progresses, the team uncovers a web of secrets and lies involving the victim's family and friends. Everyone has something to hide, and each new discovery leads to more questions than answers.

Meanwhile, Detective Taylor is dealing with personal issues of his own. His estranged wife has returned to New York, and their relationship is strained. Taylor must navigate his own emotions while also trying to solve the case.
