In Cutthroat Kitchen season 5 episode 7, "Chip Off the ol' Baklava," the contestants are taken on a journey through the flavors of the Mediterranean. The episode is hosted by celebrity chef Alton Brown, who sets up an array of devious challenges for the chefs, all designed to make them squirm.
Throughout the episode, four contestants face off in three rounds of intense cooking challenges. The first round begins with a game of "bobbing for ingredients," where the chefs must fish for Mediterranean ingredients using only their mouths. The ingredients that they gather will be the only ones they can use to create their dishes in the upcoming round.
For the second round, the contestants must use their wits to create baklava using items like a hair dryer or a spray bottle instead of traditional cooking tools. They are also given the opportunity to bid on items that will sabotage their opponents, like taking away their honey or forcing them to use a pie crust in place of phyllo dough.
In the final round, the two remaining contestants must prepare a dish that incorporates at least three different types of fish. They are given a budget of only $500 to purchase their ingredients at an auction, and they must carefully strategize to get the most bang for their buck.
As always, the chefs must navigate the treacherous waters of Cutthroat Kitchen while fighting to keep their dishes on track. Will they be able to overcome the obstacles that are thrown their way, or will they sink to the bottom of the competition? Tune in to find out!
