Cutthroat Kitchen is a cooking show hosted by Alton Brown. The show brings four contestants, all of whom are professional chefs, to compete against one another. The show is unique because it allows the contestants to use strategy and sabotage to give themselves an advantage over the other chefs. In each episode, there are three rounds of cooking, and at the end of each round, one chef is eliminated. The winner takes home a cash prize of $25,000.
In the season 6 episode 4 of Cutthroat Kitchen, titled 'S'Mortal Combat,' four chefs were asked to make a s'more dessert dish for the first round. As the chefs were preparing the dish, Alton Brown, the host of the show, revealed the first sabotages. The sabotages included using a blowtorch to toast the marshmallows, cooking on a camping stove, and working blindfolded. One contestant was forced to wear a jacket that slowed down their movements, preventing them from moving as quickly as their competitors.
The contestants had to bid against each other using the money they had earned in the first round to decide who would get the sabotages. The chefs went above and beyond, bidding higher and higher to get the chance to sabotage their competitors. One chef, in particular, was very determined to win, and he was willing to spend all of his money to ensure that his competitors would be hindered. The bids quickly became intense, and each chef didn't hold back.
In the second round, the contestants were asked to make a three-course meal, and the sabotages were even more challenging. The sabotages in this round included cooking with a wok instead of a traditional stove, cooking with no tools, and preparing the meal with one hand behind their back. One of the sabotages forced the chefs to work with tiny utensils, which made preparing food a struggle even for the most agile of chefs.
One of the contestants had a particularly tough time in this round. His ingredients were constantly being stolen, and he was forced to use different ones. He was also required to cook his meal on a tiny camp stove, which made it challenging to cook multiple things at once. However, he persevered and managed to get his dishes done in time.
The final round of 'S'Mortal Combat' was the dessert round. The two remaining chefs were asked to create a new twist on a classic dessert. The sabotages were especially difficult this time. One chef was not allowed to taste their dishes, meaning that all of their creations could potentially be ruined. Another chef had to spin around in a circle a certain number of times before they could cook.
The final dish both chefs created was judged by three professional chefs, and the winner was announced. The winner of the episode was awarded a prize of $25,000. The losing chefs were sent home empty-handed after they failed to overcome the sabotage. Overall, 'S'Mortal Combat' was a thrilling episode of Cutthroat Kitchen, full of challenges and twists that kept the chefs and viewers on their toes.
