In the high Middle Ages, the world was filled with magic and evil creatures that made the Earth a dangerous place for human beings. A magic object called the Tether was created; it banished magic and demons into another dimension, while the Earth that we live in became demon free and safe from sorcery. The Tether was never meant to be found, as it holds evil at bay and keeps both versions of earth in balance. When Nathan stumbles upon the Tether, it transmits its powers to him, and the ancient struggle against dark and light begins again.
