Ep 3. Point of No Return

In this episode of Deadliest Catch Season 17, titled "Point of No Return," the captains face unprecedented challenges and have to make tough decisions as the crab season continues to test their limits.

The season is well underway but the Bering Sea is still not giving its bounty easily. The crews are exhausted from days of non-stop crabbing and sleep deprivation. To top it off, they encounter some of the roughest weather conditions yet. Captain Wild Bill on the F/V Summer Bay and Captain Sean Dwyer on the F/V Brenna A have a tense encounter as they vie for the same fishing spot.

Captain Sig Hansen on the F/V Northwestern is heading to a new spot but is faced with a difficult decision halfway through the trip. Should he keep pushing through the rough conditions to get to the spot or turn back before it's too late? It's a point of no return, where he must weigh the risks and make a choice that could determine the fate of his entire season.

Meanwhile, Captain Keith Colburn on the F/V Wizard is dealing with some major setbacks. The boat's engine has a catastrophic failure, and the crew must work around the clock to get it fixed. Captain Keith is also conflicted about whether to move to a new fishing spot, which could yield a bigger catch, or stay in their current location, where they already have some crabs in the tank.

Over on the F/V Time Bandit, Captain Johnathan Hillstrand is having to work through some crew conflict while also dealing with mechanical issues on the boat. He's also strategizing with his brother, Captain Andy Hillstrand, on how to approach the season's quotas.

Back on the Summer Bay, Captain Wild Bill is dealing with his own crew issues. His deck boss, Nick McGlashan, is having a difficult time staying focused. Captain Bill must decide whether to cut him loose or give him one more chance.

The pressure is on for each captain to make the right moves and decisions to keep their crew safe and their businesses profitable. As always, crabbing in the Bering Sea is a risky and challenging business, and the season's obstacles are proving to be the most challenging yet.
