The Doctor and his companions Tegan and Turlough arrive on the planet Frontios, where the last surviving humans of a distant colony are struggling to survive. The planet has been hit by meteor showers, causing their underground habitation tunnels to collapse and trapping them underground.

As the Doctor investigates, he discovers something sinister lurking beneath the surface - a group of alien creatures known as the Tractators, who are using their advanced technology to control the humans and drain their energy. The Doctor soon realizes that the Tractators are not from this dimension, and have been manipulating the humans and their environment for their own purposes.

With the help of the colony's leader, Brazen, and his daughter Norna, the Doctor sets out to stop the Tractators and save the colony from destruction. Along the way, they encounter a group of humans who have been mutated and controlled by the Tractators, and must fight to free them from their grasp.

As the situation grows more dire, the Doctor and his companions must use their wits and resourcefulness to outsmart the Tractators and save the colony. But with the aliens' power growing stronger by the minute, will they be able to stop them in time?

In the thrilling conclusion to this four-part story, the Doctor must confront his most dangerous foes yet and face the ultimate test of his skills and bravery.
