Ep 9. A Fresh Start

In season 3 episode 9 of DogTown, titled A Fresh Start, the staff at Best Friends Animal Society's Dogtown gives a group of dogs the chance to start anew.

The episode follows the journey of four dogs who have come to Dogtown from different backgrounds, all with unique stories of their own. First, we meet Henna, a sweet-natured Mastiff mix who has spent the last four years in a county shelter, waiting for a family to call her own. Despite her friendly demeanor and calm spirit, Henna has yet to find a home, and the staff at Dogtown is determined to give her the best shot possible.

Next, we meet Grant, a handsome Rottweiler who was found on the streets, emaciated and covered in fleas. Grant's journey to recovery is a long one, as his malnutrition has led to a number of medical issues. However, with the help of the expert veterinary staff at Dogtown, Grant begins to improve, gaining weight and a newfound sense of energy and playfulness.

The episode also introduces us to two dogs who have had a rough start to life. The first is Cheyenne, a Pit Bull who spent the first two years of her life chained up outside, with little human interaction. Understandably, Cheyenne is hesitant and timid around people, but the staff at Dogtown strives to build her confidence through training and one-on-one interactions.

Finally, we meet Rocky, a Lhasa Apso mix who was rescued from a hoarding situation. Rocky has been living in a crowded environment for so long that he has forgotten how to trust humans, and he cowers in fear at the sight of anyone new. The staff at Dogtown takes a patient approach with Rocky, slowly introducing him to new people and situations in a way that helps him feel safe and secure.

Throughout the episode, we see each of these dogs make strides in their journey toward a better life. Henna gets to enjoy the great outdoors during a hike with her caregiver, and Grant's health begins to steadily improve. Cheyenne learns to trust her human handlers and lets her guard down, while Rocky starts to come out of his shell and show his playful side.

In addition to showcasing the unique journeys of each dog, A Fresh Start provides insight into the work being done at Dogtown to rehabilitate dogs and give them the best possible chance at a happy life. We see the staff working tirelessly to provide medical care, training, and attention to each and every animal, all while emphasizing the importance of giving each dog individualized care and attention.

As the episode draws to a close, we're left with a sense of hope and optimism for each of the dogs featured. While their journeys are far from over, they are all on the road to a brighter future, thanks to the dedicated staff at Dogtown. A Fresh Start is both heartwarming and enlightening, and serves as a reminder of the incredible work being done by organizations like Best Friends Animal Society to help dogs in need.
