The show Don't Tell the Bride is a popular British reality TV series that premiered in 2007. The series follows the journey of engaged couples as they plan their dream wedding, but with a twist - the groom is given control of the planning and the budget, and has only three weeks to plan the entire wedding without the bride's input.
In Series 5 Episode 10, we meet the couple Tom and Jen, who have been together for eight years and are getting married in just three weeks time. Tom is a DIY enthusiast and has grand plans for a festival-style wedding, complete with a marquee, live band, and outdoor games for their guests to enjoy.
The episode begins with Tom and Jen discussing their wedding planning, with Tom revealing that he wants to hold the wedding on a farm in Wales, complete with a rustic barn as the focal point. Jen, on the other hand, has always pictured a traditional church wedding, and is sceptical of Tom's plan.
As the episode progresses, we see the couple visiting potential wedding locations, with Tom keen to find a farm that suits his festival vision. Jen is less than impressed with some of the venues, but eventually agrees on a farm that has a beautiful barn and plenty of outdoor space.
As Tom begins to plan the wedding, tensions start to rise between the couple as they struggle to agree on the details. Jen is unhappy with Tom's choice of outdoor games, while Tom becomes frustrated with Jen's constant interference in his plans.
Despite the disagreements, Tom throws himself into the planning and begins building a wooden bar for the reception, as well as a giant Jenga set for guests to play. Meanwhile, Jen is left in the dark about the wedding details, and becomes increasingly nervous about what Tom has in store.
As the big day approaches, Tom sets up the marquee and decorates it with festival-inspired bunting and fairy lights. Jen arrives at the farm dressed in her bridal gown and is surprised to see the transformation of the barn into a beautiful wedding venue.
The ceremony takes place in a meadow overlooking the Welsh countryside, with Jen accompanied by a flower girl and a ring bearer. Tom sheds tears as he watches his bride walk down the aisle, and the couple exchange their vows in front of their family and friends.
The reception is a huge success, with guests enjoying the outdoor games and live music. Tom's DIY bar is a hit, with guests queuing up for drinks throughout the evening. Jen is thrilled with how the wedding has turned out, and admits that she would never have thought of a festival-style wedding herself.
As the episode draws to a close, we see Tom and Jen reflecting on their wedding day, with Tom admitting that he was nervous about planning the wedding without Jen's input. However, he is pleased with how everything turned out, and is proud of himself for taking on the challenge. Jen agrees, and the couple leave the farm as newlyweds, excited for their new life together.
