The episode A Very Special Drawn Together Afterschool Special from season 2 of Drawn Together is a parody of the "Very Special Episodes" that many television shows produced in the 80s and 90s. The concept is twisted hilariously as the characters try to incorporate moral lessons into their normally vulgar behavior.

The episode begins with a heartfelt monologue from Toot Braunstein. She speaks directly to the audience, acknowledging that Drawn Together hasn't always been the most upstanding show. But she promises that this episode will be different.

The characters all gather in the living room to watch an episode of a fictional after-school special called "We're All Different" which is a parody of many such TV shows like "Saved By The Bell" and "Diff'rent Strokes". The show features a group of ethnically diverse teens who all learn to overcome their differences and become friends.

After the show, the Drawn Together cast decides that they want to make their own after-school special. Each character has their own idea for a lesson they want to teach, ranging from racial equality to gun control. However, their attempts to film their own special quickly devolve into their usual crazy and absurd situations.

Captain Hero tries to teach the importance of seat-belt safety, but causes more accidents than he prevents. Ling-Ling attempts to demonstrate how to deal with bullies, but his escalation tactics only lead to more violence. Xandir wants to tackle discrimination against the LGBT community, but Foxxy Love can't get past his poster of chiseled male abs.

Meanwhile, Toot is trying to teach the lesson of self-acceptance, but her attempts to show off her body confidence result in some uncomfortable situations. Clara tries to teach the importance of abstinence, but her sexual urges and strange fetishes make it difficult to stay on message.

As the chaos unfolds, Toot realizes that they've gotten away from the original message of the after-school special. Frustrated, she reminds everyone that the original message was that we're all different, but we should all be able to get along. The Drawn Together cast finally comes together, admitting their flaws and accepting each other for who they are.

The episode ends with Toot addressing the audience again, saying that while they didn't accomplish their goal of making a traditional after-school special, they did learn something important - that everyone is different and that's okay.

A Very Special Drawn Together Afterschool Special is typical of the show, in that it is incredibly vulgar and inappropriate at times, but its self-awareness and clever writing make it hilarious. While the characters may not always be the best role models, their attempts to teach moral lessons offer a parody of the "Very Special Episode" trope that is both funny and clever.
