Ep 8. Food Fit for the Gods

In season 5 of Eat St., episode 8 titled "Food Fit for the Gods," host James Cunningham takes viewers on a mouth-watering journey to sample some of the most unique and delicious food offerings across North America.

The episode opens with James visiting the Kogi BBQ food truck in Los Angeles, California. Known for their Korean-inspired tacos, Kogi BBQ has become a staple in the LA food scene. James tries the short rib taco and the spicy pork taco, both of which are full of flavor and heat.

Next, James travels to Vancouver, Canada to visit the Vij's Railway Express food truck. Vij's Railway Express serves Indian-inspired cuisine with a modern twist. James tries the lamb kebab wrap, which is made with marinated and grilled lamb, fresh herbs, and a tangy sauce. He also tries the chicken curry bowl, which has a creamy tomato-based sauce and is served with basmati rice.

In Austin, Texas, James checks out the Peached Tortilla food truck. Peached Tortilla serves a fusion of Asian and Southern cuisine. James tries the Banh Mi Taco, which is a unique combination of Vietnamese banh mi flavors and a traditional taco. He also tries the Seoul Burger, which is a juicy beef patty topped with Korean-inspired ingredients like kimchi and gochujang mayo.

In Toronto, Canada, James visits the Fidel Gastro's food truck. Fidel Gastro's is known for their creative take on comfort food classics. James tries the "Gastro Bao," which is a fluffy steamed bun filled with crispy fried chicken, pickled cabbage, and a sweet and spicy sauce. He also tries the "PB&J Pork Belly," which is an indulgent sandwich made with slow-cooked pork belly, peanut butter, and homemade jelly.

James then heads to New Orleans, Louisiana to check out the Cajun-style dishes at the food truck Dat Dog. Dat Dog is known for their unique hot dogs and sausages with creative toppings and sauces. James tries the "Crawfish Etouffee Dog," which is a hot dog topped with spicy crawfish etouffee. He also tries the "Duck Sausage," which is a savory sausage topped with grilled onions, peppers, and a smoky BBQ sauce.

In Portland, Oregon, James visits the Nong's Khao Man Gai food cart. Nong's specializes in serving the Vietnamese dish "khao man gai," which is poached chicken served with fragrant rice and a flavorful sauce. James tries the classic khao man gai dish and is blown away by the simplicity and deliciousness of the meal.

Lastly, James visits the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck in New York City. Big Gay Ice Cream serves soft serve ice cream with fun and unique toppings. James tries the "Salty Pimp," which is a cone filled with vanilla ice cream, dulce de leche, and sea salt, all dipped in chocolate. He also tries the "Bea Arthur," which is a soft serve cone with crushed vanilla wafers and dulce de leche.

Throughout the episode, James meets the passionate and creative chefs behind each food truck and learns about the inspiration and stories behind their dishes. "Food Fit for the Gods" is a delightful showcase of the diverse and delicious cuisine that can be found on the streets of North America.
