Ep 6. Jealous Robert

Ray and Debra are at home one evening when Robert calls to say he's coming over. Debra assumes he's coming to talk about the fact that he and Amy are having problems, but when Robert gets to the house, he tells Ray that he wants to talk to him alone. Ray is hesitant at first, but eventually agrees.

Robert reveals that he's been feeling jealous of Ray lately. He admits that he's always looked up to Ray and envied him in some ways, but lately it's been harder to ignore. He's jealous of Ray's success as a writer, his nice house and family life, and even the attention that Debra gives Ray.

Ray is surprised and doesn't know how to respond, but tries to be supportive. He tells Robert that he's always been proud of him and that he has his own accomplishments to be proud of.

Meanwhile, Debra is getting frustrated with the fact that she and Ray can't seem to have a night alone without something coming up. She decides to take matters into her own hands and plan a "date night" for them the following evening. Ray is skeptical at first, but eventually agrees to go along with it.

The next evening, Ray and Debra are getting ready for their date night when Robert shows up unexpectedly. He's clearly upset and wants to talk to Ray again. Ray tries to tell him that they're in the middle of something, but Robert insists.

Robert starts to lash out at Ray, accusing him of being smug and rubbing his success in his face. Ray tries to defend himself, but can tell that Robert isn't hearing him. Debra tries to intervene and get Robert to calm down, but ends up making things worse.

Eventually, Robert storms out of the house, leaving Ray and Debra to salvage their date night. They try to enjoy themselves, but the tension from earlier in the evening hasn't completely dissipated.

The next day, Ray tries to reach out to Robert and clear the air. They talk things over and eventually come to an understanding. Robert admits that he's been struggling with his own insecurities and that he's happy for Ray's success.

Ray is relieved and grateful that they were able to work things out. Debra is also happy that everything has been resolved and suggests that they try date night again sometime soon.

The episode ends with Ray and Debra cuddled up on the couch, watching TV and enjoying each other's company.
