It's A Trap! is the third episode of the second season of Family Guy Specials and is a feature-length parody of the third Star Wars film in the original trilogy, Return of the Jedi. In this episode, the Griffin family takes on the roles of various characters from the Star Wars universe, with Peter as Han Solo, Lois as Princess Leia, Stewie as Darth Vader, Chris as Luke Skywalker, Brian as Chewbacca, and Cleveland as R2-D2.
As the episode begins, the family is watching Return of the Jedi on television when Chris criticizes the film's ending, suggesting that it would have been better if it had focused on the Ewoks instead of the main characters. Peter then decides to retell the story of Return of the Jedi from the perspective of the Ewoks, with his family members taking on the roles of various characters from the original trilogy.
Throughout the episode, the Griffin family parodies iconic scenes from the film, including the opening battle on the forest moon of Endor, the rebel attack on the second Death Star, and Luke Skywalker's final confrontation with Darth Vader. Along the way, they encounter various celebrity cameos, including Rush Limbaugh as the voice of the rancor monster, Adam West as the voice of the alien invader, and Patrick Stewart as the voice of Emperor Palpatine.
The episode also features a number of musical numbers, including a parody of the song "I Will Survive" sung by Admiral Ackbar, a song by Chris and Stewie called "Somewhere That's Green" set to the tune of "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid, and a song by Peter and a group of Ewoks called "Hey There Oola" set to the tune of "Hey There Delilah" by the Plain White T's.
Throughout the course of the episode, the family also includes a number of gags and jokes that poke fun at both the Star Wars franchise and Family Guy itself. For example, when Peter first meets the Ewoks, he remarks that they look like teddy bears, to which one of the Ewoks responds, "Is this guy for real?" Later on, when the Ewoks hold a party to celebrate their victory over the Empire, they play Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You" on a primitive phonograph, prompting Peter to remark, "Oh boy, here it comes. Time to hate ourselves again."
It's A Trap! is a comedic and irreverent take on one of the most beloved films of all time, and offers a fresh and unique perspective on the Star Wars universe. Whether you're a die-hard fan of the original trilogy or just looking for a good laugh, this episode is sure to delight and entertain.
