After surviving the first battle in the Holy Grail War, Shirou Emiya and his Servant Saber have to face off against Rin Tohsaka and her Servant Archer in the second battle. In the aftermath of the fight, Rin reveals she knows Shirou's past and challenges him to a duel. However, Archer intervenes and warns Rin that taking Shirou down would mean losing strength for the upcoming battles. Meanwhile, Shirou is given a mysterious key by Rin's father, which leads him to a hidden workshop in the basement where he discovers the true nature of his powers.
