Ep 2. The Doctor

In season 1 episode 2 of First Dates, titled "The Doctor," viewers are introduced to a new group of singles hoping to find love. The show takes place at a popular London restaurant where couples are set up on blind dates and are filmed as they get to know one another over dinner and drinks.

The episode begins with a 25-year-old personal trainer named Jack sitting nervously at the bar waiting for his date to arrive. He admits to the camera that he's never been on a blind date before and is feeling a bit apprehensive. Shortly after, his date, a 28-year-old pediatrician named Katie, arrives and the two sit down to dinner.

As they begin chatting, it becomes clear that there's a bit of a disconnect between the two. Jack is a fitness fanatic and Katie admits to not being very active, which leads to a bit of awkward small talk. However, they both seem to be genuinely interested in getting to know one another and decide to give each other a chance.

The next couple introduced is a bit more lively. 48-year-old Mark, a children's entertainer, is paired with 46-year-old Ann, a hospital administrator. Mark is a flamboyant character who quickly steals the show with his loud, confident personality. Ann seems to be having a good time but is a bit more reserved than her date.

As the evening progresses, Mark and Ann find common ground and begin to connect. They bond over their shared interests in travel and family and, by the end of the night, seem to have hit it off quite well.

The final couple of the night is perhaps the most interesting. 31-year-old Jess, a fashion buyer, is paired with 32-year-old Kelly, a firefighter. Upon being introduced, it becomes clear that Jess is quite smitten with Kelly, who happens to be the first woman she's ever been on a date with.

The two begin chatting and find that they have a lot in common. Kelly admits that she's really struggling to find someone who's accepting of her unconventional job and Jess seems to be unfazed. They share stories about their families and background and, by the end of the night, it seems that Jess may have found a real connection.

Overall, First Dates season 1 episode 2 is an amusing and occasionally heartwarming look at the ups and downs of blind dating. While not every couple is a perfect match, it's clear that the show's producers take care to match people who share common interests and values in an effort to make real connections. It will be interesting to see which of these couples make it to a second date, and which ones don't.
