After crashing into the pack of ice, his ship became lodged in the ice, leaving them trapped with no way to escape. Knowing that there was no way to be rescued without someone leaving the ship and undergoing the harsh conditions, Ernest Shackleton then makes a promise to his entire crew that he would rescue them, and return them home safely. Determined to keep his promise and keep his crew safe and alive, Ernest sets out on an unbelievable journey, facing the harshest weather conditions, and the tremendous cold. This television series shows Ernest Shackleton conquering many various obstacles such as traveling over 800 miles of Southern ocean, as well as over coming an uncharted mountain range on South Georgia Island. In the end, Ernest finally ends up reaching a whaling station that he leads to his ship and his crew, saving the lives of all 28 crew members.
