Friday: The Animated Series was a short lived, one season show that was aired in 2007 and was shown on the MTV2 network. Friday: The Animated Series was based on the cult classic movie from 1994 which starred Ice Cube as Craig and Chris Tucker as Smokey. Friday: The Animated Series would run during the summer of 2007 and debuted on June 24, 2007 and would see its last episode on July 8, 2007. The one and only season of Friday: The Animated Series lasted for eight episodes. The first episode of Friday: The Animated Series is called 'Hardly Working' and it is based on the opening scene of the movie where Craig is forced to find a job by his father and when he can't, he is kicked out of the house. Each episode of the short lived show was a parody of the times such as the second episode where Craig and Smokey get into a 'hip-hop' war over a tree that has the likeness of a dead rap music icon on it. Friday: The Animated Series also has appearances from some of the other characters from the movie in the series such as Deebo, the neighborhood bully that Craig fights. The animated series has the two foes on good terms and in the fourth episode is one where Craig and his father decide to volunteer for the local big brother program and are stuck with mentoring Deebo and Smokey. Episode 5 of Friday: The Animated Series was one that seen Craig getting involved with former United States Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and sees Rice come to the hood to get away from the pressures of her job. Episode 7 is one that has a historical tone to it as Craig's father is intent on teaching Craig and Smokey things about black history that they did not have any knowledge of. Friday: The Animated Series was produced by Ice Cube and in 2009 was released on DVD by Image Entertainment.
