Ep 16. That Which is Lost

Ed and Al make their way to Winry's hometown of Rush Valley, where they hope to find an expert on automail, the prosthetic limbs that Ed uses and Winry designs. Upon arriving, they witness a town full of automail mechanics and enthusiasts, with shops lining the streets, and competitions being held to showcase the latest and greatest designs.

The brothers quickly find themselves in the center of attention, with their unique automail and alchemical abilities drawing interest from many of the locals. They catch the eye of a young girl named Paninya, a pickpocket who has stolen Ed's pocket watch, and who offers to return it to him in exchange for a look at his automail.

While exploring the town, the brothers run into a woman named Dominic, who claims to be an expert on automail and offers to take a look at Ed's arm. She discovers that it was designed by Winry, and is amazed by the craftsmanship. She also tells them about a mysterious man named Scar, who has been attacking state alchemists in the area and is rumored to possess the power to destroy automail with a touch.

Ed and Al become worried about Winry's safety, and decide to head back to Central to warn her. Meanwhile, Paninya reveals that she too has automail legs, and that they were installed by a mechanic named Dominic. She also confesses that she is working for a man named Barry the Chopper, who has offered to help her obtain a pair of automail arms so that she can walk again.

As they make their way back to Central, Ed and Al are suddenly attacked by Scar, who seems to know who they are and what they can do. A fierce battle ensues, during which Ed is once again forced to confront his own limitations as a user of alchemy. Despite their best efforts, Scar manages to escape, leaving the brothers shaken but determined to continue their search for the Philosopher's Stone and find a way to restore their bodies.

Back in Central, Winry is visited by Dominic, who reveals that she used to be a state alchemist herself, until she was forced to leave when her experiments turned deadly. She also warns Winry about the dangers of associating with the Elric brothers, and suggests that she might be better off distancing herself from them.

Winry, however, refuses to abandon her friends, and sets out to find them herself. Along the way, she is attacked by Barry the Chopper, who reveals that he is a serial killer who has been using his automail body to commit his crimes. He also reveals that he is working for a mysterious figure known as "Father," and that they have plans for the Elric brothers that go far beyond what they can imagine.

As the episode draws to a close, Ed and Al are reunited with Winry, and the three of them set out on a new path, uncertain of what the future holds for them. But no matter what challenges lie ahead, they are determined to stick together and find a way to overcome them, and to finally find the answers they seek.
