Ep 1. The Pitch

Chili Palmer, a former loan shark from Miami, has moved to Hollywood to try his hand at producing movies. His first target is a B-movie producer named Harry Zimm, who owes him money from a past deal. Chili goes to a meeting with Harry, pitching him a script he acquired from a friend. When Harry scoffs at the idea, Chili takes matters into his own hands by stealing the script and taking it to a big-time producer named Rick Moreweather.

Rick loves the pitch and wants to meet the writer, a woman named April Quinn. Chili tracks down April and convinces her to come to Hollywood to work on the movie. Meanwhile, Harry realizes the script is missing and enlists the help of his actress girlfriend Karen to find it. Karen discovers Chili's involvement and confronts him, but Chili is unfazed. He sets up a meeting with Harry to sell the script to him for a higher price than Rick offered.

At the meeting, Harry agrees to buy the script from Chili for twice the amount Rick offered, but Chili has a different plan in mind. He pulls out a recording of Harry badmouthing him and threatens to release it if Harry doesn't agree to co-produce the movie with him. Harry reluctantly agrees, and the two set off to make the movie with April as the writer and Karen as the lead actress.

Meanwhile, a group of hitmen are sent to Miami to track down Chili in order to collect on a debt he owes. Chili's former boss, a gangster named Ray "Bones" Barboni, is behind the hit and sends his goons after Chili. Chili learns of the hit and realizes he needs to stay in Hollywood to lay low. He enlists the help of his friend, a stuntman named Bear, to protect him from Bones' hitmen.

As production begins on the movie, Chili and Harry clash over creative differences. Harry wants to make a campy B-movie, while Chili envisions a more serious drama. Karen also has a falling out with Harry when she discovers he has been cheating on her. Despite these setbacks, Chili remains determined to make the movie a success and evade Bones' hitmen.
