Ep 3. The Yips

Miles Daly, a former mob enforcer trying to become a Hollywood producer, finds himself struggling with the pressure of his new career and his past catching up to him. In season 1 episode 3, titled "The Yips," Miles tries to close a deal with a financial backer for his movie project while dealing with his own insecurities and anxieties, which are causing him to lose his ability to pitch properly.

As Miles tries to recruit movie star Emma, played by Susan Sarandon, to join his project, he begins to experience bizarre and disturbing symptoms that threaten to derail his plans. He starts to suffer from a case of the "yips," a phenomenon where a person suddenly loses their ability to perform a simple physical action they have performed successfully in the past, in Miles' case, throwing a baseball.

Moreweather is a wealthy businessman who's interested in investing in Miles' movie, but Miles knows that he needs to clear his head and regain control of his fears if he wants to impress him and make the deal.

Meanwhile, Amara De Escalones, the boss of the criminal organization that Miles used to work for, continues to monitor his every move from afar. She remains a constant presence in his life, and Miles knows that Amara won't hesitate to bring him back into the fold if he makes a misstep.

As "The Yips" progresses, Miles' anxieties continue to escalate, leading to some tense and hilarious moments. The episode offers a glimpse into the complex emotional life of a man who is in way over his head but refuses to give up his dreams. With top-notch performances from Chris O'Dowd, Ray Romano, and the entire cast, "The Yips" is a compelling, funny, and intelligent addition to the Get Shorty series.
