Ghost Hunters Classic Season 5 Episode 8 Garden State Asylum

  • October 15, 2021

In this episode of Ghost Hunters Classic, the team sets their sights on the Garden State Asylum, a former mental hospital in New Jersey with a long history of hauntings and paranormal activity.

As they begin their investigation, they meet with a local historian who gives them some background on the asylum and its troubled past. The team then begins their initial walkthrough of the property, taking note of any areas that seem particularly active or creepy.

One of the first things they notice is a room with a large, metal door that has been chained shut. According to the historian, this room was used for electroshock therapy -- a common treatment for mental illness in the early 1900s. The team decides to investigate this room later in the night, when they believe the activity will be at its peak.

As the investigation continues, the team splits up to cover more ground. One group heads to the hospital's morgue, where they hope to make contact with any spirits that may be lingering there. They set up a variety of equipment, including EMF detectors and digital recorders, and begin asking questions to any entities that may be present.

Meanwhile, another group sets up in the patient's ward, where they report feeling a heavy energy and strange noises coming from the hallway. They move their investigation to a room that was once occupied by a particularly violent patient, who reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the room. The investigators report feeling a strong presence and capturing some compelling EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) recordings.

At this point, the team reconvenes to discuss their findings. One member reports seeing a shadowy figure in the hallway, while another hears strange whispering coming from an empty room. They decide to focus their attention on the electroshock therapy room, where they believe they will have the best chance of making contact with the spirits in the building.

As they approach the room, they report feeling an intense energy emanating from behind the door. When they finally manage to open it, they are hit with a wave of cold air and a strong odor, which they attribute to the residual energy left behind by the electroshock therapy. They set up their equipment and begin asking questions, hoping to make contact with any spirits that may be present.

The team reports experiencing some extremely intense activity in this room, including disembodied voices, strange smells, and unexplained knocks and bangs. They capture some compelling evidence, including a possible apparition on their thermal imaging camera.

In the final act of the episode, the team reviews their evidence and determines that the Garden State Asylum is one of the most active locations they have ever investigated. They report feeling a strong sense of sadness and despair, likely due to the many tragic events that occurred within its walls. Ultimately, they conclude that the spirits they encountered are likely residual -- trapped in their own trauma and repeating their last moments in an endless loop.
