G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero is a half-hour American animated television series based on the successful toyline from Hasbro and the comic book series from Marvel Comics. The cartoon had its beginnings with two five-part mini-series in 1983 and 1984, then became a regular series that ran in syndication from 1985 to 1986. Ron Friedman created the G.I. Joe animated series for television, and wrote all four miniseries. The fourth mini-series was intended to be a feature film, but due to production difficulties was released as a television mini-series.

11. The Million Dollar Medic

In the Joe/Cobra battle in the Caribbean, a civilian yacht is sunk. But the Joes save the day. The heiress Brittany Van Mark falls for Lifeline who helped her recover. Serpentor wants to claim the business of Owen Van Mark and sends Baroness, Tomax, and Xamot to capture Bree in order to make Owen Van Mark sell his company.

10. Once Upon a Joe

Cobra Strato-Vipers attempt to steal the MacGuffin Device but are stopped by G.I. Joe. Now, the Joes must prevent this device from falling into Cobra's evil hands.

9. Let's Play Soldier

The Joes raid a village in southeast Asia to prevent villagers from collecting tree sap for Cobra. During the mission, Leatherneck has an encounter with four street orphans.

8. Sink the Montana!

The Joes are at the decommissioning ceremony for a battleship, the U.S.S. Montana. But Cobra tries to foil their plans. Admiral Lattimer, former captain of the Montana, betrays the Joes and allies himself with Cobra and the Joes must stop him from harming more innocent people.

7. Computer Complications

A space probe containing anti-matter crashes into the ocean and both Joes and Cobra try to retrieve it. Can the Joe's get it in time, or will it fall into Cobras hands.

The Joes sneak into the Terror Drome to rescue Sgt. Slaughter from Serpentor and discover that Serpentor is leading his forces to invade Washington, D.C.

Sgt. Slaughter and his group defends Genghis Khan's tomb while Shipwreck's group defends Alexander the Great's underwater tomb. What could COBRA be plotting with the tombs?

The Joes set off to protect the tombs. Zarana tricks the Joes into helping local villagers and leave the tomb of the Egyptian General undefended. In Paris, Cobra troops arrive by submarine and the Crimson Twins get into Napoleon's tomb. The Joes are unable to stop Cobra from getting Moctezuma's DNA.

1. Arise, Serpentor, Arise! (Pt. 1)

After being inspired by a strange dream, the fiendish Doctor Mindbender plans to obtain the DNA samples of history's greatest conquerors in order to make the Cobra Emperor. The Joes embark on a mini-remedial recruit training and intercept and destroy a Cobra Night Raven, retrieving a Cobra message pod. The Joes find a letter detailing the Dreadnoks' mission to break into tombs of history's greatest leaders and conquerors. Meanwhile, the Dreadnoks gain Monkeywrench and Thrasher as new members.
