Ep 10. Train / Wavelength / Capture

Two girls, Chito and Yuuri, travel on a Kettenkrad, a small motor vehicle, looking for food and water in a never-ending wasteland. In Girls' Last Tour season 1 episode 10 titled Train / Wavelength / Capture, they come across a train and its tracks. Chito is amazed by the concept of a train and wishes to ride it. Yuuri points out that it had been so long since they saw any form of functioning machinery, and they decide to investigate.

While exploring, Chito and Yuuri encounter an old man named Hopper, who is a survivor from the time before the destruction. Hopper fills them in on the history of the train. In the old world, the train was used to transport people and goods. However, now it was just a remnant of the past. Hopper tells the girls that the train was still operational, but it was impossible to run with the scarcity of fuel in the world they lived in.

Hopper proposes a suggestion to the girls. He knew of an old factory that produced a type of fuel that could power the train. With the few details he remembers of the factory's location, the girls go on a journey to find the factory. The journey is long and tedious, but Chito and Yuuri keep their spirits up with their usual banter.

After traveling for a while, they stumble upon an abandoned broadcasting station. Yuuri finds HAM radio and starts playing around with it. Suddenly, she hears a voice and gets excited by the prospect of contacting other humans. The voice is not understandable, but they find an old manual that translates radio frequencies to voice wavelengths. Excited with the discovery, they start sending and receiving messages from the person on the other end.

As they progress further, Yuuri suddenly remembers that they were talking to someone on the radio. They try to contact the person again, but all they hear is static. Concerned, the girls search for another frequency. Eventually, Yuuri finds a new frequency that receives the signal of a person screaming for help.

Disturbed by the cryptic message, the girls rush to get to the factory quickly to save the person. They reach the factory, and after examining it, they find the fuel cells they were searching for. In a moment of self-doubt, Yuuri wonders if it was worth saving someone they barely knew.

Chito reminds Yuuri of their previous adventures and the memories they made. She tells Yuuri that helping people they don't know is what humans have been doing for centuries. After a moment of contemplation, Yuuri agrees and they decide to use the fuel cells to save the anonymous screamer.

Returning to the abandoned broadcasting station, Yuuri tries to contact the person again. To their relief, they received a reply. The person introduces themselves as "Sensei" and accepts their offer of help. They learn that Sensei's group was attacked by raiders and they were the last one surviving. Sensei felt guilty for not being able to do anything for his friends but changing the frequency.

Chito and Yuuri manage to find Sensei's unit and rescue him. Sensei is surprised to see the girls in a Kettenkrad and hears that they have been following the tracks of the train. He gets excited and tells them that the train was the symbol of hope for humankind before the apocalypse. In a moment of hopelessness, Sensei stopped believing in the train, but he promises to board the train with the girls and enjoy the ride when it does run.

The episode ends with Chito and Yuuri smiling as they hear the distant sound of an engine.
