However, the victory is bittersweet. It is revealed that the young woman who died in the initial attack was actually an adventurer in training, who had not yet officially joined the guild. This serves as a reminder of the harsh realities of the world of GOBLIN SLAYER – even the most innocuous-seeming quests can quickly turn deadly.

Overall, the first episode of GOBLIN SLAYER sets up the world and characters in a compelling way. The world is dark and dangerous, and the characters are flawed and complex.
