Gold Rush South America follows Todd Hoffman and several of his crew members as they prospect for gold in South America after giving up on mining in Alaska's Klondike. The show gives viewers an inside look into the everyday struggles these courageous men face while chasing the American dream to third world countries south of the border.

The cast of the show quickly realizes how different mining for gold is in South America. In one episode, crew members face deadly roads high in the Andes ripe with land slides as well as local turf wars over potential mining sights. The dream for enough gold to change their lives pushes the team to overcome nearly impossible obstacles as they continue their search.

The show also follows the miners as they blaze a trail through dense jungles full of deadly predators in hopes of finding a site worth mining. Travel in this part of the world is a complicated mission on its own and the crew stops at nothing when attempting to find what they came for. The show has a real sense of adventure and leaves the viewer on the edge of their seat from start to finish during every episode.
