The Klondike Gold Rush
- 1 Season
Directed by Canadian film maker Douglas Arrowsmith, this recent documentary reportedly draws heavily upon input from historians Terrence Cole and Michael Gates, and writer Charlotte Gray, the author of Striking It Rich in the Klondike. It explores the phenomenon of an epic gold rush, when thousands of eager prospectors headed to the Yukon and Alaska between 1896 and 1899 in search of a fortune, many attracted by rumors alone. The gold miners often met with disappointment, although some did succeed despite a dangerous environment. This excellent movie also focuses some attention on modern residents of the northern community of Dawson.
