In the seventh season, the nineteenth episode of Hardcore Pawn titled "Seth Snaps" revolves around the popular family-owned American Jewelry and Loan, which is located in Detroit, Michigan. The episode shows Les, Seth, and Ashley Gold working together to run their pawnshop, while dealing with the challenges that come their way.
The episode begins with Les and Ashley reviewing surveillance footage of a recent incident at the shop. A customer had apparently assaulted an employee after being denied a refund, and Les is concerned that this behavior is becoming more frequent. Meanwhile, Seth is busy getting his hair cut and chatting up the stylist when he receives a call from an unhappy customer who had pawned his stereo. The customer demanded a refund because the stereo was not working, but Seth refused, citing the store's policy. The customer then threatened to come to the store and "take care" of the situation.
As the day progresses, the shop is bustling with activity. Seth is approached by a woman who wants to sell her collection of Michael Jackson memorabilia. He is impressed with the items and decides to make an offer for the whole collection. However, the woman is hesitant to sell everything at once and decides to take some time to think it over. Meanwhile, Ashley is hard at work helping a customer pawn his ring. He is in a tough spot and needs the money quickly, but Ashley is worried that the ring may not be worth enough.
Later, while Seth is helping a couple with a guitar, the same angry customer from before barges into the store. He begins yelling at Seth, accusing him of selling him a broken stereo. The customer becomes more and more agitated, eventually shoving Seth. This prompts Seth to lose his cool and physically confront the man in the middle of the store. Les and Ashley quickly come to the scene to break up the fight. After a heated exchange, the customer is finally escorted out of the store by security.
Despite the violence, the day continues on for the American Jewelry and Loan. Ashley gets a surprise visit from a woman who is interested in pawning her wedding dress. She is in a tough spot financially and needs the money to help pay for her son's graduation. Ashley sympathizes with the woman and offers her a fair deal. Meanwhile, Seth works on helping a customer pawn his accordion. The man is hesitant to let it go, as it belonged to his grandfather, but eventually agrees to pawn it after Seth convinces him it's for the best.
As the day comes to a close, Les meets with a customer who has brought in a large collection of Star Wars toys. Les is excited by the collection and begins to make a deal with the customer. However, he soon realizes that the customer is holding back some of the more valuable items and decides to walk away from the deal.
Overall, the episode "Seth Snaps" captures the everyday drama and challenges the American Jewelry and Loan team faces. From dealing with angry customers to finding fair deals for customers in need, the shop never has a dull moment. The episode showcases the strong work ethic and dedication of the Gold family, who continue to run a successful business in the heart of Detroit.
