Mud Bowl/Gerald Moves Out is the seventh episode in season 3 of the animated television series Hey Arnold!. The episode revolves around two separate stories that intersect at the end.
In the first story, Arnold and his friends are excited about their annual Mud Bowl game. However, the field they usually play on is unavailable, so they have to find a new location. They decide to play in Lot 37, a vacant lot filled with mud and debris. The game quickly becomes intense, with each team determined to win. However, Arnold's best friend, Gerald, is on the opposing team, causing tension between the two friends. As the game progresses, the players get more and more dirty, but they refuse to give up. In the end, the game takes an unexpected turn that leaves everybody feeling happy and proud.
In the second story, Gerald has an argument with his parents over his messy room. Fed up with his parents' constant nagging, he decides to move out and live with Arnold's grandparents, Phil and Gertie. However, living on his own proves to be more difficult than he imagined. He struggles to keep his new apartment clean and forgets to pay his bills. Meanwhile, his parents miss him and wish he would come home. Eventually, Gerald realizes that he needs to talk to his parents and work things out.
Towards the end of the episode, the two storylines intersect when the Mud Bowl game spills over into Gerald's new apartment, causing chaos and messiness. Despite the mayhem, everyone has a good time and realizes the importance of friendship and family. The episode ends on a heartwarming note, showing that even tough times can be overcome with the help of loved ones.
