Jung Daehyun is a loving father who finds himself in a difficult situation after losing his wife, Cha Yeryun, five years ago. Since her tragic passing, Daehyun has been raising their daughter alone, and it hasn't been easy. He's done his best to be both a mother and a father to their daughter, Seowoo, but he knows it's not enough. As much as he tries to make up for Yeryun's absence, he can't help but feel like he's failing his family in some way.
In episode two of Hi Bye, Mama!, titled "Forgotten Season," we see how difficult it can be to come to terms with the loss of someone you love. Cha Yeryun, who has returned to life as a ghost, can only watch helplessly as her family struggles to move on without her. She desperately wants to communicate with them, to let them know that she's still there and that she still cares. But the rules of the afterlife are strict, and she's not allowed to interfere with the living.
Despite this, Yeryun can't help but feel like she's being forgotten. Her husband has started dating again, and her daughter is growing up without her. It's a painful realization for Yeryun, who had always thought that her family would remember her and cherish her memory. Now, she's starting to feel like she's just a distant memory, a footnote in their lives.
As Yeryun struggles with her own feelings of sadness and loss, she realizes that there are things she can do to help her family. She starts with Seowoo, who is struggling to fit in at school and make friends. Yeryun decides to use her ghostly abilities to help Seowoo connect with her classmates, and it works. Seowoo is thrilled to have made a new friend, and Yeryun is overjoyed to see her daughter happy.
Meanwhile, Daehyun is trying to balance his new relationship with his responsibilities as a father. He's nervous about introducing his girlfriend, Minjeong, to Seowoo, but he knows it's something he has to do. When he finally gathers the courage to bring Minjeong home, he's surprised by Seowoo's reaction. She's thrilled to meet Minjeong and seems to take to her right away.
As the episode unfolds, we see how Yeryun's presence continues to affect her family in both positive and negative ways. At times, her ghostly interventions create more problems than they solve, but it's clear that she's doing everything she can to help her loved ones. Through her actions, we see that even in death, Yeryun is still a devoted mother and wife, and her family will always be her top priority.
Overall, "Forgotten Season" is an emotional and heartfelt episode that explores the themes of loss, grief, and the importance of family. We see that even when faced with the most difficult of circumstances, there are ways to find hope and happiness in life. Hi Bye, Mama! continues to be a moving and memorable series that will stay with viewers long after the final episode airs.
