Ep 7. Everybody's Got a Cousin in Miami

Tidal waves of change hit the shoreline of Cape Cod in "Hightown" Season 1 Episode 7, titled "Everybody's Got a Cousin in Miami." As the title suggests, the story progresses towards Miami, leaving the rough and tough corrupt cops of Provincetown behind.

The episode opens up with Jackie on a road trip to Miami along with Frankie. Jackie, now drug-free, aims to find Junior, her missing friend, who was last known to be in Miami. They find Junior's younger sister, who tells them about her brother's whereabouts. All three revisit the last location where Junior was seen. Soon after, a call from Kizzle Interrupts their search. Kizzle, trying to swindle Osito and Rayburn, is in Miami and unaware of Junior's whereabouts. Jackie continues her search and unexpectedly meets an FBI agent Adam Raymond. Raymond suspects Junior getting involved in some criminal activity, and Jackie handles the situation with her street-smart skills. Meanwhile, Osito catches up with Kizzle and puts him in the trunk of his car.

Simultaneously, Ray tries to convince Decourcy Wallaces for Jackie's untrustworthiness as he is still convinced of her involvement in Junior's murder and the corrupt cop's case. Krista's custody hearing happens, where Rayburn lies under oath about getting clean from drugs. Krista, after losing custody of her child, blames Rayburn for being responsible for her current state, and this leads to her getting kidnapped and under further drug influence.

Elsewhere, the detective unit's internal investigation's tension increases as the higher-ups get question how Jackie escaped police custody. After a turn of events, Krista's kidnapper brings her back to Provincetown and puts her on display in the front of a bar.

The episode's title, "Everybody's Got a Cousin in Miami," is a clever way of masking the underlying emotions that stir up in all the characters journeying through Miami. Jackie breaks free of her addiction, finds clarity, and discovers her friend's whereabouts. Krista's custody hearing and snatching marks a new low for her character, portraying her vulnerability. Rayburn finds himself lying in front of a court in charge of his truth. However, the most intriguing part of this episode is the introduction of Adam Raymond, who may cause Jackie trouble in the future.
