  • June 6, 2010

Teri McKenna has spent the past year living and working on her boat in St. Thomas, but she's ready for a change. She's always been drawn to European culture, and now she's ready to make the move across the Atlantic to try her hand at life in Switzerland.

With the help of her friend and real estate agent, Teri starts her search in the charming town of Lausanne. She's looking for a place with a lot of character and history, but also wants modern amenities and plenty of natural light. Her budget is around 2 million Swiss Francs, and she's hoping to find a place with a balcony or terrace and a view of the Alps.

She visits several properties in Lausanne, including a refurbished 17th-century building with exposed beams and a spacious rooftop terrace, and a newly-renovated apartment in an historic building with a modern, open floor plan and stunning lake views.

Eventually, Teri decides to broaden her search to the nearby town of Montreux, known for its picturesque waterfront, Mediterranean climate, and famous jazz festival. She visits a luxurious, high-rise apartment in a prime location overlooking Lake Geneva, and a charming, 300-year-old chalet with original woodwork and plenty of rustic charm.

Throughout the process, Teri grapples with the cultural differences between Switzerland and her native United States, and struggles to adjust to the high cost of living and language barrier. But she's determined to make her new life in Switzerland work, and after careful consideration, she finally finds a property that feels like home.

House Hunters International season 11 episode 28 follows Teri's journey as she navigates a new country, language, and culture, and embraces the challenge of making a fresh start in Europe.
