House Hunters International Season 27 Episode 179

Ep 179. Surf, Sun and Jobs in Four Mile Beach

  • November 28, 2013

In this episode of House Hunters International, we follow a young couple who are ready to leave their corporate jobs and start anew in Australia's tropical paradise. With dreams of sand, surf, and sunshine, they have their hearts set on finding their dream home in Four Mile Beach.

As the episode begins, we meet Jake and Megan, a couple in their late twenties, both of whom are feeling stuck in their corporate jobs and are ready for a change. Hailing from the Midwest, they've always been drawn to the ocean and the laidback lifestyle that comes with it, and so they've decided to take the plunge and move to Australia's gorgeous north coast.

The couple's main goal in finding their new home is to be as close to the beach as possible. They know that they want to be able to hear the waves crashing from their front porch, and they want to be able to walk to the beach in just a few short minutes. Four Mile Beach seems like the perfect place for them, with its crystal-clear water, white sand, and palm trees swaying in the breeze.

Their budget is around $500,000, and they're hoping to find a place with plenty of natural light, a spacious outdoor area, and at least two bedrooms. They have no idea what to expect in terms of housing styles and prices, so they're looking to their real estate agent, Mike, for guidance and expertise.

Mike knows the area like the back of his hand, and he's confident that he'll be able to find Jake and Megan their dream home. He takes them to their first property, a cozy apartment just a stone's throw from Four Mile Beach. The apartment is bright and airy, with an open-plan living area that leads out onto a small balcony. The bedrooms are spacious enough, but the couple is disappointed to find that there's no outdoor space beyond the balcony. They move on to the next property.

Next up is a townhouse that's still under construction but promises to be finished in time for the couple's move-in date. The townhouse has three bedrooms, a small courtyard, and even a swimming pool. Jake and Megan are impressed by the modern finishes and the location, just a short walk to the beach. However, they're hesitant about the fact that the property is still under construction, and they're not sure they want to deal with any potential issues that might arise during the building process.

Mike takes them to a third property, a spacious condo with two bedrooms and a large outdoor area. The property is a little over budget, but it's clear that Jake and Megan are smitten. The living area is filled with natural light, and the outdoor area is perfect for entertaining. They're also excited about the fact that the condo is part of a resort complex, which means they'll have access to amenities like a gym, a pool, and even a restaurant.

The couple is torn between the townhouse and the condo, and they take a few days to mull over their options. Ultimately, they make their decision based on the fact that the condo is move-in ready and has more of the outdoor space they're looking for. They're thrilled to be able to start their new life in Australia in their dream home, just steps from Four Mile Beach.
