  • December 4, 2013

Kicking It Kigali Style in Rwanda is the 183rd episode of the 27th season of House Hunters International. In this episode, we follow a couple, Lesley and Donovan, as they move from Perth, Australia to Kigali, Rwanda.

Lesley and Donovan have been living in Perth for several years, but they feel that it's time to change things up and embark on a new adventure. Donovan has been offered a job in Kigali, and they see it as the perfect opportunity to immerse themselves in a new culture and experience all that Africa has to offer.

As they start their search for the perfect home, they quickly realize that finding a house in Kigali is a bit different than what they're used to. With a limited number of rental listings and a high demand for housing, Lesley and Donovan have to be strategic in their search. They tour several homes with their real estate agent, and they quickly learn that not all homes in Kigali are created equal.

The first home they tour is a beautiful four-bedroom house with a stunning view of the city. The house is located in an upscale neighborhood, but it's also a bit on the pricey side. Lesley and Donovan love the house, but they're not sure if it's the best fit for them, given their budget.

The second home they visit is a two-bedroom apartment in a more affordable part of the city. While the apartment is small, it's cozy, and it has all the amenities they need. Lesley and Donovan love the idea of living in a more diverse part of the city and being closer to the action.

The third home they see is a three-bedroom house in a quiet and safe neighborhood. It's a bit further from the city center, but it's also more affordable than the first house they saw. Lesley and Donovan love the size and layout of the house, but they're also concerned about the distance from the city and the lack of amenities in the area.

Throughout their search, Lesley and Donovan also get to experience some of the other aspects of life in Kigali. They visit local markets, sample the local food, and meet some of the friendly locals. They also visit some of the local landmarks, such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which gives them a deeper understanding of Rwanda's tragic history.

In the end, Lesley and Donovan have to make a tough decision. They have to weigh their desire for a spacious and luxurious home against their budget and desire to be closer to the city. After much discussion and careful consideration, they finally make their decision and start their new life in Kigali.

This episode of House Hunters International not only gives viewers a glimpse into life in Africa but also highlights the challenges of finding housing in a country where the demand is high and the supply is low. Lesley and Donovan's journey is a perfect example of how important it is to be flexible, open-minded, and strategic when searching for a new home in a foreign country.
