In this episode of House Hunters, we follow a family on their search for their dream home in Oregon, with a twist - the mother is a self-proclaimed "helicopter mom" who wants to be extremely involved in every step of the process. The family consists of parents Rachel and Dan, and their two young children. Rachel is a stay-at-home mom while Dan is a software engineer who works from home. They're looking for a home in a safe neighborhood with good schools, and plenty of space for their kids to run around.
The first house they visit is a spacious four-bedroom in a quiet cul-de-sac, situated on a large plot of land with plenty of trees and greenery. Rachel is immediately enamored with the large master suite and the fact that the house has a separate office space for Dan. However, while the house is move-in ready, the price point is at the top of their budget and there's not much room for negotiation.
The second house is a bit further away from the city but offers more land and a larger house. This five-bedroom beauty has a lot of character, with a brick façade, a wood-burning fireplace, and a remodeled chef's kitchen. Rachel loves the fact that the house has a large front porch and that the property includes a barn that could be converted into a play area for the kids. Dan is less enthusiastic about the location, but Rachel is insistent that they should at least consider it. The price point is lower than the previous house, but there's some renovation work that needs to be done.
The third house is in a more upscale neighborhood with excellent schools. This four-bedroom house boasts stunning views of the surrounding mountains and has a lot of curb appeal. The inside is equally impressive, with high-end finishes and a spacious layout. Rachel is over the moon with this house, particularly with the fact that there's a large deck and a hot tub. Dan is more reserved and wondering if the house is really worth the extra money, considering they'd have to make some sacrifices in terms of their lifestyle and budget.
At the end of the day, the couple struggles to come to a consensus. Rachel wants to go with the third house, calling it "a no-brainer." However, Dan is worried about the long-term budget and the impact that a more expensive home would have on their daily lives. In the end, the couple decides to sleep on it and reconvene the following day. In the end, they do end up making an offer on one of the houses, but which one did they choose? You'll have to watch this episode of House Hunters to find out!
