House Hunters Season 2014 Episode 16 Cookie Cutter vs. Craftsman Character in Des Moines
- January 29, 2014
In this episode of House Hunters, we follow a couple on their quest to find their dream home in Des Moines, Iowa. The couple, Lisa and Ryan, are torn between two different styles of homes - cookie cutter and craftsman character.
Lisa and Ryan have different ideas of what they want in a home, making their search both fun and challenging. Lisa loves the charm and character of older homes, specifically those with craftsman style features like unique woodwork, built-ins, and architectural details. Ryan, on the other hand, is drawn to the practicality and modern finishes of newer, cookie cutter-style homes.
Their real estate agent, Audrey, shows them a few different homes in both styles to help them weigh the pros and cons of each. The first home they view is a modern, cookie cutter-style house with all of the trendy finishes Ryan loves. However, the lack of character and unique features leaves Lisa feeling underwhelmed.
They then view a craftsman-style home with all of the charming features Lisa desires, but the outdated kitchen and bathroom leave Ryan feeling like they would need to put in a lot of work to make it their own. The couple also struggles with the smaller rooms and lack of storage space.
Just when it seems like they may never find the perfect home, Audrey shows them a beautifully renovated craftsman-style home with modern upgrades. The home boasts all of the character and unique features Lisa loves, while still providing a modern and functional space that Ryan can appreciate. However, the home is slightly above their budget, leaving them with an important decision to make.
Throughout the episode, Lisa and Ryan struggle to find a balance between style and practicality. They must ultimately decide if they want to sacrifice charm and unique features for modern finishes, or if their dream home can be a perfect combination of both. Will they choose the cookie cutter or craftsman character? Tune in to find out.
