  • January 1, 2014

New Parents Look for a Home With Good Feng Shui in L.A. is the second episode of the 2014 season of the popular home buying show, House Hunters. In this episode, we follow a couple who are in search of their dream home in the bustling city of Los Angeles. However, they have an additional criteria for their home search - good feng shui.

As the episode begins, we are introduced to the excited young couple - Laura and Matt. They are expecting their first baby and currently reside in a small apartment. With the arrival of their little one imminent, Laura and Matt have decided it's time to upgrade their living arrangements and find a home that meets their growing family's needs.

L.A. is a city known for its sky-high property prices, so Laura and Matt have a budget of $900,000. However, buying their dream home is only half the challenge. They're also looking to bring good feng shui into their new home, with Laura firmly believing in its principles and benefits.

The first property they visit is in Sherman Oaks, a suburb of Los Angeles. The house is priced at $845,000 and boasts 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, which would provide ample space for their growing family. However, as Laura walks through the home, she begins to have doubts about the feng shui. The living room has doors that lead to nowhere, which is seen as a bad omen in feng shui. Despite this, they are still considering the property.

Next up, Laura and Matt visit a home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood. This home carries a hefty price tag of $1.3 million, well over their budget. However, the couple is impressed with the open floor plan and natural light. But, once again, they have concerns about the feng shui. According to Laura, the master bedroom is in the "money corner," which could lead to financial issues.

Their third property visit takes them to a neighborhood known for its celebrity residents - Cheviot Hills. This home is priced within their budget at $899,000 and has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The highlight of the house is an expansive backyard, perfect for their little one to grow and play. And, for once, Laura doesn't have any major feng shui concerns.

The final property on their list is in the Beverlywood neighborhood. The house is priced at $875,000 and has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It is a charming traditional-style home with a fireplace and hardwood floors. The home has a great backyard too, but once again, they have concerns about the feng shui. The dining room's position is seen as unfavorable, which could lead to heated arguments.

After viewing all four properties, the couple is left with a tough decision. Each home has its own advantages and disadvantages, and they must weigh their options carefully. Their top two choices are the Pacific Palisades home with great natural light and the Cheviot Hills home with a perfect backyard.

The episode culminates with Laura and Matt making their decision. They have a discussion with the realtor and take into consideration all the advantages and disadvantages of each property. In the end, they choose the Cheviot Hills home, which they felt had the best feng shui and was perfect for their growing family.

Overall, this episode showcases the struggles and challenges new parents face when looking for a new home. The added criteria of good feng shui makes their house search even more daunting, but in the end, Laura and Matt found the perfect home for their family.
