House Hunters Season 2015 Episode 5 Single Mom Looks for a Home in Kansas City
- January 12, 2015
In this episode of House Hunters, a single mother is on the lookout for a new home in Kansas City, Missouri. With three young children in tow, she has outgrown her current living space and is hoping to find a house that is both affordable and suited to her family's needs.
The episode opens with the single mom, named Lisa, meeting with her real estate agent, Brian, to discuss her options. Lisa is looking for a four-bedroom house with a big backyard, as well as plenty of storage space. She works as a teacher and doesn't have a huge budget, so she is hoping to keep the purchase price under $200,000.
Brian takes Lisa to visit three different houses in different parts of Kansas City. The first house they visit is in a suburban neighborhood and has a large backyard with a pool. The inside of the house is dated, but it has a lot of character and some unique features, like a sunken living room. Lisa likes the house, but is concerned about the upkeep on the pool and the fact that it is further away from her children's school than she would like.
The second house they visit is closer to Lisa's children's school and has a more modern feel to it. It has an updated kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, as well as a nice backyard with a deck. The downside is that it only has three bedrooms, so Lisa would have to convert an office into a fourth bedroom.
Finally, they visit a house in a more urban area of the city that has a lot of character and charm. It is an older house, but has been updated with new appliances and fixtures. It has a large backyard and plenty of storage space, but the bedrooms are on the smaller side. Lisa loves the house and is torn between this option and the second house they visited.
After touring all three houses, Lisa sits down with Brian to discuss her options. She decides to put an offer on the second house they visited, as she loves the location and the fact that it has been recently updated. While it doesn't have the fourth bedroom she was hoping for, she feels confident that she can make it work and convert the office into a bedroom.
The episode ends with Lisa's closing on the house and moving in with her three children. She is thrilled with her new home and grateful for the help of her real estate agent in finding the perfect place for her family.
