House Hunters Season 2017 Episode 148 Couple Debates Loft vs. House in Atlanta

  • September 12, 2017

A couple in Atlanta debates between purchasing a modern loft or a classic house in the suburbs on the latest episode of House Hunters. The husband is determined to find a spacious, urban loft with exposed brick and high ceilings whereas the wife is looking more towards finding a traditional house with a large yard and plenty of natural light.

Their real estate agent shows them several stunning lofts in the heart of Atlanta’s bustling downtown district. The first option is a chic, modern loft with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. The sleek, open floor plan and industrial accents make the husband giddy with excitement but the wife isn't completely convinced as she remarks on the lack of privacy and designated outdoor space.

Next, they tour a trendy loft with a rooftop garden and stunning views of the skyline. The couple enjoys the modern appliances and contemporary finishes but both agree that the commute to work would be much longer than they originally anticipated.

The final loft that the couple visits is a former storage warehouse that has been renovated into a stunning living space. With cathedral ceilings, natural light, and a prime location close to the Beltline, this option seems to be the perfect combination of modern and traditional decor. The husband is ecstatic and can visualize himself throwing sophisticated dinner parties in the large, bright entertaining space. However, the wife is concerned about their future children’s safety in the city and the overall practicality of the space.

As the couple continues their search, they quickly realize that finding a suburban house is not as easy as they thought. Their real estate agent shows them several classic Southern homes with traditional charm but they don't have all of the features they are seeking. One option that stands out is a historic, three-story colonial with a wraparound porch and ample outdoor space. The wife immediately becomes enamored with the lush gardens and can envision herself leisurely sipping tea on the porch while her children play in the yard. However, the husband is disappointed by the outdated finishes and the amount of upkeep that a large property like this will require.

The couple visits another house a few miles outside of the city that is a blend of traditional and modern styles. The open floor plan, high-end kitchen appliances, and spacious bedrooms are impressive but the husband is still hesitant about the lack of urban energy and nearby entertainment options.

Finally, they visit a brand-new house in a trendy suburb that was designed with modern living in mind. The house boasts an open floor plan, a spacious backyard for their children to play in and even a private pool. The couple enjoys the sleek finishes and contemporary fixtures but they both agree that the neighborhood is relatively quiet and there won't be as much to do compared to living in the city.

After much debate, the couple ultimately decides to go with the stunning downtown loft that had once been a warehouse. They compromise on the safety issues by installing security features such as a smart doorbell, surveillance cameras and additional locks on their unit. The husband gets his modern city space with plenty of room for guests while the wife is satisfied with the outdoor entertaining space on the rooftop garden. They both look forward to embracing the vibrant city lifestyle and all that it has to offer while creating new family memories in the years to come.
