Ep 3. The Operetta

Lucy and Ricky are at the Tropicana where Ricky is working on a new operetta. Lucy is bored and wants to be part of the show, so she starts to audition for the part of the lead female character, but is immediately shot down by Ricky. Later that day, Fred and Ethel come over to the apartment and Lucy tells them how she feels left out of the show and wants to be part of it.

Fred comes up with an idea to create their own operetta and they choose the story of Cinderella. Lucy is thrilled and starts to come up with ideas for the show. They start to practice in the living room and Lucy insists on playing the lead role.

As they continue to practice, Lucy's voice starts to annoy Ricky, so he suggests that she should take singing lessons. Lucy agrees and goes to a music school to take lessons. The singing instructor, Madame Lamond, is a strict and demanding teacher who starts to teach Lucy the basics of singing.

Back at home, the gang continues to practice for the operetta. They design their own costumes and even make the set themselves. However, Lucy's singing lessons are not going well. Madame Lamond tells Lucy that she has a terrible voice and she will never be able to sing. This news devastates Lucy, but Fred and Ethel convince her to keep trying.

The big night of the show arrives and everyone is nervous. Lucy is still worried about her singing, but decides to go through with it. As the show starts, everyone is surprised by Lucy's amazing voice. The audience loves the show and Lucy becomes a hit.

After the show, Ricky is surprised and proud of Lucy's performance. He asks her to sing in his operetta and Lucy is thrilled. However, as the rehearsals progress, Lucy starts to hog the spotlight and Ricky becomes frustrated with her.

Eventually, after a heated argument, Ricky quits the show. Lucy is heartbroken and realizes that she needs to change her behavior. She apologizes to Ricky and the two of them make up. They decide to work together and make the operetta a success.

The episode ends with Lucy and Ricky performing together and receiving a standing ovation from the audience. The gang celebrates their success and everyone is happy.
