Ep 1. Genesis

Impastor season 1 episode 1, titled "Genesis," introduces viewers to Buddy Dobbs (played by Michael Rosenbaum), a gambling addict and small-time crook who finds himself in over his head with a debt to a loan shark. As Buddy tries to navigate his new life as a pastor while keeping up his lies, he quickly learns that being a man of God comes with a lot of responsibilities and expectations. He's forced to preach a sermon on short notice and also has to deal with some of the issues the church members are facing, including a marriage on the rocks and a gay couple that's facing discrimination.

But as Buddy starts to settle into his new role, he begins to see the positive impact he's having on the community. He helps reconcile the troubled marriage and even stands up for the gay couple when they're being harassed by a group of intolerant residents. Despite some close calls and awkward moments, it seems like Buddy might just be starting to enjoy this new life.

However, the episode ends with a cliffhanger as the loan shark that Buddy owes money to shows up in Ladner and threatens to expose Buddy's true identity if he doesn't pay up. It's a tense moment that leaves viewers wondering how Buddy will get out of this latest predicament.

Overall, "Genesis" sets the stage for what's to come in Impastor season one. It's a funny and engaging pilot that introduces viewers to a charmingly flawed protagonist and a quirky small town setting.
