Jerry is having a hard time dealing with his fake identity as Buddy, the gay pastor. Things get even more complicated when a member of the congregation, Debbie, comes on to him. Meanwhile, Dora and Russell are trying to impress their respective love interests - Dora is trying to get closer to Ashlee, while Russell tries to win over Tim's wife. As for Alden, he tries to avoid the church at all costs, but Buddy convinces him to come back for a meeting.
The episode starts with Debbie, a married member of the congregation, approaching Buddy and asking if she can talk to him privately. She then confesses that she has feelings for him and that she's been having trouble in her marriage. Buddy tries to tell her that he's not interested and that he's gay, but Debbie doesn't believe him. Later, she tries to make a move on him in his office, but he manages to escape and avoid the situation.
Meanwhile, Dora is trying to impress Ashlee by working out with her at the gym. However, she ends up injuring herself and has to be taken to the hospital. Russell, on the other hand, is trying to win over Tim's wife, Lisa, by showing her his skills as a bartender. Despite a rocky start, Lisa is impressed by Russell's moxie and offers him a job at her bar. Russell accepts, but it soon becomes clear that he might be in over his head.
As for Alden, he's having a tough time dealing with the fallout from his embezzlement charges. He tries to avoid the church, but Buddy convinces him to come back for a meeting with the congregation. However, when it's time for Alden to speak, he freezes up and can't bring himself to apologize. Later, Buddy confronts Alden and tells him that he needs to own up to his mistakes, no matter how hard it might be.
The episode ends with Buddy having a heart-to-heart with Alexa, the church's organist. She tells him that she knows he's not really who he says he is, but that she still believes in the good he's doing for the church and the community. Buddy is moved by Alexa's words and it becomes clear that he's starting to realize that his fake persona might be doing more good than harm.
