Inspector Manara is a crime drama series that follows Luca Manara, an Italian police inspector who is transferred to a small town in Tuscany, Italy, to help with investigations. In episode one, titled "A Perfect Murder (Pilot)", we are introduced to Luca Manara and his new team, including his colleague Inspector Lucrezia Ricci.
The episode begins with the investigation of a murder at a local vineyard. A woman named Margherita Vitali has been found dead, and it appears to be a case of poisoning. Luca and Lucrezia arrive at the scene to begin their investigation. The crime scene is messy, and it seems like someone has tried to clean up the evidence. Luca suspects that it is not a perfect murder, as the killer has left a clue that they hope to follow up on.
Luca also meets some of the locals, including the owner of the vineyard Antonio Valenti, who seems to have a motive for the murder. Antonio has been having financial problems and was in debt to Margherita. Luca and Lucrezia try to find evidence against Antonio but do not have anything concrete to pin him to the crime.
As the investigation continues, Luca discovers that Margherita's husband, Franco Vitali, had a history of domestic abuse, and the couple had been fighting the night she was killed. Luca begins to suspect Franco, but the evidence is not conclusive yet. Meanwhile, Antonio hires a lawyer and starts to cover up any traces of his involvement in the murder.
During the investigation, Luca and Lucrezia also face some opposition from the locals, who are not used to outsiders coming in and trying to solve their problems. They are seen as outsiders who do not understand their community. Luca, however, does not let this deter him and continues to work hard to solve the case.
As the investigation progresses, Luca discovers that there is more to the case than just a simple murder. He uncovers a web of deceit and lies that involve some of the prominent members of the community. Luca and Lucrezia work together to solve the case and bring the killer to justice. In the end, they uncover the truth behind Margherita's murder, which is anything but a perfect one.
Overall, "A Perfect Murder (Pilot)" is a thrilling start to Inspector Manara. The episode does an excellent job of introducing the audience to the characters and setting up the plot. The investigation is well thought out, and it keeps the audience guessing until the end.
