When Kotoko and her friends find out that Irie has joined the cheerleading squad, they can't help but laugh. However, their amusement is short-lived, as they soon learn that Irie is quite skilled at cheering and that he has a special interest in one particular member of the squad. Meanwhile, Kotoko has her hands full with her latest writing assignment, which involves interviewing a young man who has recently come out as gay. As she gets to know him better, Kotoko begins to understand the struggles he faces in a society that doesn't always accept him for who he is.
