Ep 3. Chroniko's Boots

In Kaiba season 1 episode 3, titled "Chroniko's Boots," viewers are taken on a journey through the eyes of the character, Kaiba. Kaiba is still struggling to come to terms with his new body after his memories have been erased and he has been placed into a new vessel. To top it off, he is now on a search for his lost memories.

In this particular episode, Kaiba happens to meet a girl named Chroniko. She is a character who has apparently gone through a similar alteration process to Kaiba and is now living as a synthetic being. Despite her altered appearance and robotic body, Chroniko has a warm and friendly demeanor which draws Kaiba in. This meeting takes place in what seems to be a rural area with ruins scattered about.

While speaking to Chroniko, Kaiba realizes that she is wearing a pair of boots that once belonged to a character named Popo. Popo, it turns out, was also one of Kaiba's former acquaintances. In hopes of getting a lead on where Popo might be, Kaiba sets out with Chroniko to try and find him.

As they journey on, they come across many strange environments. One such place is a vast sea of what seems to be lollipops and candies. This location is unlike anything that Kaiba has seen thus far. As they traverse the sea, they end up finding a floating island with soil that's perfect for planting a garden. Chroniko expresses to Kaiba that she has always wanted to have a garden and Kaiba decides to help her out in making her dream a reality.

Together, they start getting the garden ready. Kaiba, who previously had no interest in such things, finds himself getting lost in the tranquility of the project. As they work on the garden, Kaiba reflects on the events that brought him to this point. From his memory loss to his new synthetic existence, he is forced to confront the reality of his situation.

After they finish the garden, they hear a noise coming from somewhere close by. Kaiba and Chroniko set out to investigate, and ultimately come across a strange creature called a "dark giant." This mysterious creature has been the reason behind the strange noises and is making its way towards them. With no other option, they flee the scene to find refuge somewhere else.

While taking a break, Kaiba asks Chroniko about her memory loss. Chroniko explains how she used to be someone else entirely before her memories were erased and she was put into her new synthetic body. Unlike Kaiba, whose memories were erased from him, Chroniko states that she made the decision to have her memories erased on her own accord. This revelation leads Kaiba to reflect further on the nature of memories and what they mean for existence.

The episode ends with Kaiba and Chroniko sitting in the ruins amongst the garden they built. Kaiba's thoughts are interrupted when he hears footsteps approaching: they are the footsteps of Popo, the missing acquaintance he had been searching for.

Overall, "Chroniko's Boots" is an intriguing episode that explores the themes of memory, existence, and the human desire for companionship through the lens of an alluring fantasy world.
