Embarrassing School Comedy is the ninth episode of the first season of Kannagi, an anime television series based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Eri Takenashi. The episode was directed by Hiroshi Tamada and written by Yoshinori Ishizaki. It was originally aired in Japan on November 28, 2008, on Tokyo MX.

The episode begins with Jin Mikuriya, the protagonist, being summoned to the elementary school where he used to study. Apparently, the school is going to be demolished soon, and the teachers want Jin to retrieve a time capsule that he buried with his classmates ten years ago. Jin reluctantly agrees and brings along the main female lead, Nagi, and her living wooden statue, Zange, for company.

As they arrive at the school, Jin meets his old classmates, who have moved on to high school and are now taller and more mature than him. They are surprised to see Nagi and Zange, mistaking them for Jin's girlfriends, and start teasing him. Meanwhile, Zange is excited to see a camera and starts taking pictures of everyone, much to their chagrin.

The group soon locates the time capsule, but they realize that they have forgotten the key. Jin suggests using his power to break the capsule open, but Nagi protests, saying that it would be disrespectful to their past selves. She suggests that they use a school tool shed to construct a makeshift key.

As they start searching for a tool shed, they accidentally stumble upon a first-year classroom, where they overhear two boys talking about Nagi. One of them says that Nagi is cute, but the other disagrees, saying that she looks too plain. Nagi overhears this and becomes self-conscious, thinking that she needs to change her appearance.

Jin tries to comfort Nagi by telling her that she is beautiful just the way she is, but she doesn't believe him. Zange suggests that they should transform Nagi into a magical girl to boost her confidence. Jin is skeptical of this idea, but he goes along with it anyway.

Nagi, now dressed in a magical girl outfit, gains a lot of attention from the male students. However, she soon realizes that the outfit is embarrassing and begs Jin to change her back. Jin uses a spell to transform her back to her original form, much to her relief.

The episode ends with Jin and his classmates opening the time capsule and reminiscing about their past. They find a letter that Jin wrote to his future self, in which he expresses his wish to become a mangaka. Nagi, Zange, and Jin's classmates encourage him to pursue his dream, and the episode closes on a hopeful note.

Overall, Embarrassing School Comedy is a light-hearted episode that blends elements of comedy, romance, and nostalgia. It explores themes of self-esteem, friendship, and the importance of pursuing one's dreams. While it may not be the most plot-heavy episode of Kannagi, it provides a satisfying and heartwarming slice-of-life experience that is sure to delight fans of the series.
