In season 3 of Killing Fields, episode 4 titled "Murder Isle: A Second Murder" the investigators go back to Rodie's old stomping grounds in hopes of solving two different murders. Rodie, together with his partner Aubrey, is currently focusing on the 1997 murder case of Eugenie Boisfontaine, a Louisiana State University (LSU) graduate student. However, a new lead has turned up. A woman named Abbie Angelle, who was 36 at the time, was found dead in Iberville Parish in 1994. Her murder remained unsolved for over two decades. The primary suspect was a man named Tommy Francise who was also a suspect in Boisfontaine's murder.

The detectives believe that if they could solve Abbie's murder, it could lead to the identification of Boisfontaine's murderer. Abbie's case was "known" to the department, but her inclusion in the "Killing Fields" investigation was a new development. The investigators felt that they had to solve this 23-year-old case since it was connected, in some way, to Eugenie's case. With the help of the local authorities, Aubrey and Rodie start to dig deep into Abbie's past, hoping to uncover new leads that would help them solve the case.

The episode follows the detectives as they delve deep into Angelle's life and try to piece together what happened with the help of her family and friends. In Murder Isle: A Second Murder, the investigators use technology to establish a timeline of her final hours, checking phone records and her internet history, amongst other things. They discover that Abbie put up a fight before being strangled to death and that her killer was known to her. The detectives believe that it was an intimate acquaintance or a family member who killed Abbie, and their investigation will not stop until the murderer is brought to justice.

The episode also takes a look at the speculation around Tommy Francise, who has been in and out of prison for most of his life. The detectives feel that there could be more information out there that they do not know about Francise, and they make it their goal to uncover the truth. The investigators hope that they can bring some closure to the families of both victims, and they are determined to stop at nothing to catch the killer or killers responsible for these heinous crimes.

As the episode progresses, the detectives begin to unravel new leads, which draw attention from local media. Increasing media attention makes it difficult for them to conduct their investigation discreetly and without outside interference. However, they persevere and continue to unravel the long-buried secrets that Abbie and Eugenie's murders hold. This episode of Killing Fields is an excellent example of how the detectives involved in solving these cold cases never give up, no matter how long the case has been open. Their perseverance and dedication to catching criminals who have escaped punishment for many years is commendable.

Murder Isle: A Second Murder is a suspenseful episode that is sure to captivate viewers with its realistic storytelling as it showcases how detectives work tirelessly to solve complex cases that have haunted them for years. This episode offers viewers a glimpse into the back-breaking work that goes into solving these cold cases and the toll it can take on the investigating officers both mentally and emotionally.
